FAQ

Please find below some helpful information about fundraising for Wear Red Canada.

Select "start a fundraising event" if you want to start a new fundraising event for others to join. For example, this is a good option if you are the event lead of a walkathon, fun run, or fundraising night (etc.) and have a specific fundraising goal you will be working towards with a team. Choosing this option will automatically make you the Event Lead and will automatically create an event fundraising page and an individual fundraising page.

Select "join a fundraising event" if you want to join an existing fundraising event that you know is taking place. This is a good option if you are aware of a fundraising event in your community that you would like to help support. Choosing this option will automatically add you to the Event Page as a participant and will automatically create an individual fundraising page.

Select "fundraise as an individual" if you are running a solo fundraiser or would like to fundraise independently. For example, this is a good option if you are fundraising in honour of a loved one or a special occasion. Choosing this option will automatically create an individual fundraising page.

To create and start a fundraising event, select the option “Start a fundraising event” on the “Fundraise” section of our website . You will be asked to create an account if this is your first time creating a fundraising event or fundraising page. If you are a returning fundraiser for Wear Red Canada or if you have been a donor of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation (UOHIF) in the past, you can log in with your username and password. Once you have created your account, you can then name your event and set an event fundraising goal along with your own personal fundraising goal. Once your registration for your fundraising event is complete, an event fundraising page as well as an individual fundraising page will be automatically created for you. You can log in to the Fundraising Centre to access your fundraising tools and edit your fundraising pages. See the “Fundraising Centre” section below for more information.

When you create a fundraising event, you can invite other fundraisers to join your event and together you can work towards a shared fundraising goal. Anyone who joins your event will have their own individual fundraising page and access to their own Fundraising Centre where they can edit their individual fundraising pages and access fundraising tools. Funds raised by each event participant are rolled up into the event total and are included in the amount raised on the fundraising event page.

An individual fundraising page is for someone who will not be creating an event and will largely be raising funds independently. This option is usually appropriate for special occasion fundraising, such as an anniversary or birthday.

Most changes to the event page can be made through the Fundraising Centre. If you are having trouble making changes to the event, or the change you would like to make is not available through the Fundraising Centre, you can contact us at any time to request changes to the event.
